Your 5 steps to succed the internship's rectuitement

1. Preparing phase

Pre PFE book

  • Brainstorm a list of projects to work on
  • Fix the best technologies to use for a successful performing project and discuss it with the team for any additional features or ideas

For the PFE book

  • We have our own template, and it is quite good, so you won’t waste time creating one.
  • For the content, our community manager will provide all the content about our company and you will be responsible only for the content relating to the PFE.

Every slide (project) of the PFE book contains at least:

  • Develop a small description about the project and its main features
  • Fix the skills required to success the interview (usually basic knowledge)
  • Fix the list of skills to develop during internship and the HR will manage to post the PFE book to LinkedIn

2. Sharing the pfe book

  • Our community manager will do her/his best to reach the maximum of student
  • The team can help here by sharing the link on their social profiles and informing their network of the opportunity.

3. Filter the candidates

This is the toughest step in the process:

  • Start with merging data of the both sources in a google sheet, and by both sources I mean: the form which came with the PFE book and is available only when the date of submission is possible and the mailbox of jobs@tekru.net which some students choose to post there outside the dates or for any other reason, but we must check it too.

  • Map over the list of resumes. For each resume, I give marks from 1 to 5, generally based on these criteria:

    • Check the general layout of the CV then dive into the details and these things can help to fairly give a mark:
      • Projects pushed to GitHub
      • Portfolio
      • Links for personal projects || academic project or even clean screenshots help a lot
      • Certifications (I know the online certifications don’t give much but they show how motivated the person is and how long they are willing to spend their time in learning things)
      • Participate in hackathons or any competitions || practicing coding challenges on any online platforms
      • Social experiences and associations he is a member of

PS:

Personally, I see that neither the skills nor the person can be marked. The mark is just for the effort attributed to prepare a CV, a portfolio, or specially create projects: how interesting are they which may give an idea about the person itself: how curious they are, their attention for details, how much they are willing to contribute and work for the benefit of themselves first and the team second. Marks are just a way to distinguish the ones who will come for the interview and those who won’t based on their CVs only.

4. Contacting the candidates

You will start by:

  • Preparing a “you’re accepted for the interview” template, including the date of the interview, and send it for the valid candidates.
  • Calling the candidates to confirm the successful arrival of the emails and remind them to confirm their presence or suggest a date that suits their calendar best.

PS:

You might think the "challenging" phase has passed, but it's only just beginning. However, keep in mind that this is a unique experience and a rare opportunity. Embrace it as it comes and strive to make the most of it.

5. The interview

  • Prepare a list of questions daily, try basic with some intermediate ones and keep it structured: blocks of questions (one or more) for every framework/programming language. Be aware not to juggle between topics to not confuse the candidate or make them unfocused or uncomfortable.
  • Start by introducing the HR and yourself and announce how the session will be done. For example: today we will talk JavaScript then some coding challenges and finally React js questions, are you okay with that?
  • It was useful for me at the end of the interview to ask some personal questions.

Final notes:

Stay cool, there is no need to be tough. Put water and some candies on the table and give them some time to take a breath and be comfortable before you start.

Shout-out to the team who manage every time to buy me my food which saves me time.
